Materials engineered for perfomance in demanding environments

What we build

AegisCoat develops advanced materials for systems that operate in wet, cold, and thermally demanding conditions. Our work spans multiple material forms and application contexts, guided by a focus on performance where conventional approaches break down. We validate our technologies through real-world testing and partnerships, moving research out of the lab and into use.

Born in advanced research. Engineered for real-world performance.

Three performance families

From demonstration to use

AegisCoat’s technologies are advancing through funded demonstration programs grounded in advanced research. The next phase focuses on working with customers to refine formulations and understand how the materials perform in real operating contexts.

Current activities

In-service field evaluations are underway with a major commercial shipbuilder in Southern Europe, where anti-fouling coatings are being tested on mid-scale vessels to assess operational performance over time. In parallel, AegisCoat is working with industry partners, including an automotive OEM, to co-develop application-specific cold-weather thermal management solutions and support transition into commercial and operational use.

How the work progresses

Foundational research

Core chemistry and performance mechanisms developed through advanced materials research. This work continuously generates new material concepts and formulation approaches that feed applied development.

Validation and formulation development

Prototype formulations and material systems evaluated beyond the benchtop. Testing across relevant conditions informs formulation refinement, performance tradeoffs, and practical integration considerations.

Demonstration and early use

Demonstration and pilot efforts conducted with partners to evaluate performance in real systems. Field use supports learning, iteration, and early integration across drag reduction, fouling resistance, and cold-weather performance.
